Practical Scrappers - Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to this months Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop hosted by Practical Scrappers!  I am loving that spring is finally here and the grass is getting green and the flowers are starting to bloom...what could be better!  For this blog hop I was thinking of just that, spring and flowers!  You should have made it here from the fabulous Erin's blog, if you are playing in order.  This month I wanted to use some more of my Crate Paper stash, y'all know this is one of my favorite companies so I need to whittle down my stash :)
This particular Crate Paper is the first Maggie Holmes collection.  I used several different different snippets of paper from the collection itself.  I shaded all of the edges with walnut stain distress ink.  I distressed all of the edges of the paper with a bone folder and did some sewing.  You know my pages just aren't complete without a few studio calico wood veneers :) I also used some Mr. Huey color mist sprays in opaque white, classic tan and splash.  I punched a few shapes out with some of my Martha Stewart punches and put them in a small glassine envelope.

If you're wondering about the photo that I used, it's a floral picture from my flower garden and an iPhone/iPad app called Rhonna Designs.  I believe the app also works for android-based phones as well.  You can really do a lot of fun things to your photos for not a lot of $$$.  I hope you enjoyed my layout, let me know what you think, I love your comments!  Thanks for stopping by and we'll see you next time!  Next on the blog hop list is the very talented Wendi, happy hopping!!!

April Art Journal

Hi everyone!  Today I'd like to share an entry out of my art journal with you, that I made for Practical Scrappers.  Our Art Journal challenge was a quote from Robert Graves and here is my take on it.

I first started by glueing several different patterned scraps of scrapbook paper to the pages.  I also adhered some vintage music sheets and vintage book paper to the pages as well.

Then, I went behind and gessoed all of the edges to soften them.  I had printouts of the various children, butterfly wings, mushrooms and other ephemera that I fussy cut.
I used a chocolate gelato stick from Faber-Castell all over the pages to soften the stark white of the gesso.  Then I did some random stamping all over the pages and adhered all of my cut out pieces.
I used more gesso around the cut out pieces and also some more of the chocolate gelato stick from Faber-Castel around the words.  Then I accented with rub-ons and a black stabilo pencil.
I hope you enjoyed my art journal entry for Practical Scrappers I always have so much fun with it!  Thanks for stopping by, see you next time!

P.S.  In other news, I'd like to give you an update on the Graphic 45 Design Team Audition.  I did not make this years Design Team unfortunately, but I had such a wonderful time creating with all of their gorgeous products!!!  Being chosen for Graphic 45's Top 30 was such an honor, I loved every minute and was very appreciative.  I look forward to seeing all the creations from this years team, they are all so very talented and well deserved!

Graphic 45 Design Team 2014 Final Audition

Hi everyone, today I'm sharing my three final projects for my Graphic 45 2014 Design Team Final Audition. I have had so much fun these past weeks with all the Graphics 45 projects!  It was such an honor when I was chosen to be one of the 30 finalist, thank you Graphic 45.  Here is my YouTube video link for my final audition.

Can you tell this is my first video (lol), I'll get better :)

My first project was made with the Botanical Tea collection.

For my second project the collection that I used for the shadow box was Good Ol' Sport.

A few pages out of the Good Ol' Sport mini album.

The collection that I used for my 3rd project was Olde Curiosity Shoppe, this is probably my favorite collection to date from Graphic 45 (even though I love all their collections).

Here are a few pages from the Olde Curiosity Shoppe mini album.

Wish me luck!  Thank you so much for looking, let me know what you think!  See you next time.
